Special meeting of the Committee on 22 January 1819 (pp 189-195) draws up bye-laws for the General Committee of the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society and creates four sub-committees: Finance, Outfit, Reference and House.
Incudes the annual meeting, held in July, of the 'Committee of Examination and Finance'.

Admin history: | A special meeting held on 22 January 1819 established the terms of reference for the General Committee. The terms of reference included that they should meet at least twice a month, stipulated the order of their business, the responsibilities of the secretaries (especially with regard to correspondence), quorum for meetings (7 for general committees, 3 for sub-committees) and the creation of the following four sub-committees: Finance, Outfit, Reference and House. The Finance sub-committee was responsible for reviewing expenditure and was expected to report to the Committee at least once per month. The Outfit sub-committee was responsible for the purchase of clothing, etc, for missionaries and to arrange their travel out to missions. The Reference sub-committee was held in 'extraordinary' circumstances to draw up official documentation for the Committee which was outside of its normal business.
