Hill top fort in Maharashtra
In the centre of this harsh landscape stands the hill top fort at Daulatabad, built in the 14th century (now with modern buildings). In the foreground and centre are the remains of a high wall, which rings the base of the hill. Such fortified hill towns were common in the Deccan.
