Mural on a Mullu Kurumba house

The walls of Mullu Kurumba houses are often decorated either with geometric designs or figures, as here, usually in red and white. This image of a hunter with a gun appears to be part of a longer narrative series.

In 1950 he was appointed Professor of Anthropology at SOAS, where he established the Department of Anthropology.
