Agricultural ritual among Irulas

These Irula women are using short-handled hoes to clear a hillside (probaby for the cultivation of ragi or maize), while a group of men behind them play drums and a flute. The wooden drums have two heads, covered with buffalo hide, and the flute is a type (the nagasvaram) used all over India.
