Summary: These Chenchu children at a boarding school are being served a midday meal. Few schools existed for Chenchus (and none on the Amrabad Plateau, where most lived), when Christoph von Furer-Haimendorf first visited in 1940. He always took a keen interest in tribal education, especially when he served as an advisor to the govenrment of the Nizam of Hyderabad in the late 1940s. This photograph, taken when he returned to the area for a restudy in 1977-1978, shows school children on the Amrabad Plateau.
