Collecting palm-wine in Andhra Pradesh
These Koya men climb the tall palm trees, seen behind them, to collect the juice of its buds in the pots they carry. The ropes are used to hoist themselves up the tall trunk. The sweet juice of the buds may be drunk right away, but when fermented for a few days, it also makes a light intoxicant.
