Chenchu man and water buffaloes

This Chenchu man may be performing a ritual (or just cleaning his teeth). The water buffaloes behind suggest that this photograph was taken in one of the few permanent settlements, where Chenchus kept a few of these animals, mostly for milk and purchase. They did not eat their meat.
