Summary: This Chenchu village is one of the few all-season settlements. The houses have a wattle circular wall crowned by a conical thatched roof. The framework is made from bamboo. The large wicker basket on top of the structure in the foreground would have been used for storage. At the time of this photograph,Furer-Haimendorf found 15 different such 'permanent' settlements, ranging in size from 3 to 13 houses.
