Summary: This is an Apatani altar used for the sacrifice of large animals, especially during the Murung feast. It is built at the back of the house, where mithuns (bos frontalis) are usually killed. In front of the row of tall bamboo poles (half visible) are two sets of hardwood slats, tied with cane. The two gourds on top indicate that two animals will be or have been killed (probably an adult mithun and calf).
