At the far end of this row of Apatani houses are two ritual structures : a group of people are standing on a ritual platform lapang, which consists of hardwood planks and posts and is used as a stage for ritual performances, especially the Murung (Feast of Merit) festival : In front stands a small hut nago, which is the location for other important rituals, especially during the Myoko festival and a ceremony ropi, held to placate the soul of a man or animal that is killed : the tall poles, cut from hardwood and approximately 15-20 metres tall, are put up during the Myoko festival. |
