Summary: Apatani man on the left is carrying a small, reddish dog on his back, and the one on the right has two pigs in his bamboo basket : these animals as well as the pots they carry, were purchased in Talo by trading Apatani woven cloth : Pork is a delicacy among most people in the Subansiri region, including Apatanis : apatanis, unlike most tribes in the Subansiri region, eat dogs though not regularly, but this does this prevent them from treating them affectionately as pets : Christoph von Fürer-Haimendorf met these men while travelling to the Nyishi settlement of Talo, only a few hours walk from the Apatani valley.
