Summary: These Nyishi men are standing in a settlement, probably Jorum, not far from the Apatani valley : they wear the traditional hair style knot with skewers, and cane hat with hornbill beak and eagle hornbill or chicken, feather : they also wear jackets resembling those given by the government to 'village headmen,' which became ceremonial wear : the man in the centre, behind the other two, has a button and a few coins attached to his jacket : these jackets suggest that the men have come to take part in some event, perhaps the mithun bos frontalis, sacrifice that Christoph von Fürer-Haimendorf photographed at Jorum.
