This Nyishi man is standing in Christoph von Fürer-Haimendorf's camp site in the Apatani valley : He has probably come from Talo or Jorum, two Nyishi settlements only a day's walk from the valley : He wears the typical cane hat, hair knot with skewer, wrist guard and metal string of beads on the hair line : all of this, plus his bamboo pipe, might be seen on an Apatani man, too, although the hair knot would be slightly different : the wooden ear plug, however, is more distinctly Nyishi or Hill Miri. |
