Man holding a pony (Image number Q.029, J.P. Mills Photographic Collection)
Probably Mills' pony "Blackie". He occasionally rode it when on tour, on the rare occasions when bridle paths existed. In general, however, the country was far too steep for ponies, and the majority of touring was done on foot.
