Summary: A sacrifice to call a man's soul. Illness is thought to be caused by an evil spirit capturing the patient's soul. In order to call the soul back, and thus restore the person to health, sacrifices are made and a fire is lit - as depicted in this photograph - at the place where the soul is being held to ransom . A fowl is sacrificed, cooked in the fire and eaten, after which all go back to the patient's house, announcing that the soul has returned and therefore the patient will recover.
