Includes minutes documenting; construction of the Refinery; allocation and value of Company shares; annual profits and distribution of dividends; output of the Refinery; the market for Taikoo sugar and raw and refined sugar generally; the foundering of the ship 'Hupeh' and damage to the 'Shantung' in 1899; plans for construction of shipyard and dock on surplus land at the Refinery site; the development of the market for refined sugar in China; a donation to an endowment fund for the University of Hong Kong in 1909; the purchase of the ship 'Taikoo Wan Yi' in 1919; closure of the Refinery due to strike action and riot in 1925; war and unrest in China in the period from 1925 to 1929; the reorganisation of the Company in 1929; the Japanese invasion of Hong Kong in 1941; transfer of the control of the Company from London to Hong Kong in 1949 through voluntary liquidation of the old Company and establishment of a new Company in Hong Kong.
