Summary: This series contains the files of letters between John Swire & Sons London and Butterfield and Swire in Hong Kong and Shanghai as Managers of the China Navigation Company dealing with the accounts of the firm and its financial arrangements. They concern the making up of the accounts, both annual and special, details of specific transactions, profits or losses on particular routes and details of staff payments. JSSIII 5/4 contains the letters with the British Inspector of Taxes regarding the taxation of China Navigation Company and also gives some statements of accounts.
