Admin history: In July 1948, Melbourne based earth moving contractors Roche Bros Pty Ltd took over the mining lease of the Winchelsea South brown coal deposit. In 1957, the Roche Bros and the mine's superintendent, Ray Casboult, formed and incorporated a separate transport company, Winmel Investments Pty Ltd. On 9th Jan 1958, the name was changed to Transwest Haulage Pty Ltd. In 1971, Swire purchased 78.45% shareholding in Transwest and Martin Speyer was appointed as Chairman. In 1985, Swire acquired 100% of shares.
