The Swire Group's core businesses in Hong Kong are held by the publicly quoted Swire Pacific Limited, formed in 1974. Swire Pacific Limited is one of Hong Kong's leading listed companies, with diversified interests in five operating divisions: Property, Aviation, Beverages, Marine Services and Trading & Industrial. The company's operations are predominantly based in the Greater China region, where the Swire group has been established for over 140 years.
The Property Division comes under Swire Properties Limited, which was quoted on the Hong Kong stock market in early 2012. Established in 1972, Swire Properties is one of Hong Kong's largest landlords of office space and also has significant investment properties under development in Mainland China, Hong Kong and the USA, and hotel interests in Hong Kong, Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Florida and the UK.
The Aviation Division includes airline, aircraft engineering, airline catering, air cargo terminal operation and ground services operations, mainly grouped under the Cathay Pacific group and the Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering ("HAECO") group.
The Beverage Division comes under Swire Beverages, one of the largest Coca-Cola bottlers in the world. Swire Beverages has the franchise to manufacture, market and distribute products of The Coca-Cola Company in Hong Kong, Taiwan, seven provinces in Mainland China and an extensive area of 11 states in the western USA. Swire Beverages manufactures over 63 beverage brands and distributes them to a franchise population of over 440 million people.
The Marine Services Division includes Singapore-based Swire Pacific Offshore ("SPO") group, a leading provider of support services to the international offshore energy industry, and a 50% share in Hong Kong's principal ship repair and towage and salvage operator, HUD group.
Swire Pacific's Trading & Industrial activities encompass a wide spectrum of businesses, ranging from managing iconic and popular consumer brands to manufacturing and cold chain logistics. The division has the following wholly-owned companies and jointly controlled companies.
The papers in this collection comprise those that were created, or collected by Head Office in London in their advisory capacity as parent company: the operational papers of Swire Pacific are held by the Swire Archive Service in Hong Kong. As such the records held at SOAS are not comprehensive and include mainly published annual and interim reports and some publications.
