Report of a hearing held by the Civil Aviation Authority to discuss route applications to operate a route between Hong Kong and London submitted by British Caledonian Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Laker airlines.
The papers also include a copy of an appeal report submitted by Cathay Pacific to the Secretary of State for Trade.
A third report dated 1979 makes the case for a second operator on the Hong Kong/London route and examines the feasbility and profitability of the Hong Kong/London Route. It gives an overview of the corporate and financial structure of John Swire and Sons, the firm's relationship to Cathay Pacific and the significance of Cathay Pacific to both the Hong Kong and United Kingdom economies
