Book of prime entry in which cash transactions into and out of the bank account of John Sparks Ltd New York Office were recorded. It records cash receipts (from clients) and cash payments (to suppliers) as well as tax payments, bank charges, interest received, staff fees, staff expenses, etc. Cash transactions are recorded chronologically in the cashbook as debit receipts (left-hand page) or credit payments (right-hand page) to the company's New York bank account. The cashbook records the date of cash transaction, the name of account credited or debited, page number for account in corresponding ledger book to which cash transaction was posted, and the value of the cash transaction ($-¢). Handwritten. 1 volume. 202 pp. (numbered 1-101, entries on 49 pp.). Brown purple marbled endpapers. No cover. No spine.
