Summary: Sales daybook (9 May 1952-22 December 1953) of John Sparks Ltd, dealer in Chinese art (London). Book of prime entry in which John Sparks Ltd recorded sales invoices issued to its clients for goods or services supplied in the course of its trade. Entries in the daybook record the stock number of goods supplied , , date of invoice, name of client account, brief description of goods supplied or services vended, page number for client account in Sales ledger in which invoice posted , value of individual invoice (£-s-d), and total value of invoices (£-s-d). Invoice entries are arranged chronologically in the daybook by date, with a running total of invoices for each month at bottom of page (£-s-d). Daybook also records 'Credits' posted to client accounts by John Sparks Ltd for goods returned to the company, June 1952-December 1953 (pp. 558-574). Credit entries record: stock number of returned goods, date credit issued, name of client account, brief description of returned goods, page number for client account in Sales ledger in which credit posted , and value of credit (£-s-d). Credit entries arranged in reverse order by date, with running total of credit for each month at bottom of each page (£-s-d). Ruled paper.
