Summary: Sales daybook (August 1939-30 January 1941 and 2 July 1945-30 April 1947) of John Sparks Ltd, dealer in Chinese art (London). Book of prime entry in which John Sparks Ltd recorded sales invoices issued to its clients for goods or services supplied in the course of its trade. Entries in the daybook record the stock number of goods supplied , , date of invoice, name of client account, brief description of goods supplied or services vended, page number for client account in Sales ledger in which invoice posted , value of individual invoice (£-s-d), and total value of invoices (£-s-d). Invoice entries are arranged chronologically in the daybook by date, with a running total of invoices for each month at bottom of page (£-s-d). Entries for August 1939-30 January 1941 on pp. 1-120 and entries for 2 July 1945-30 April 1947 on pp. 121-568. Entries for February 1941-June 1945 not present in this daybook. Daybook also includes list of 'Goods Returned', October 1946-April 1947 (pp. 572-578), covering goods returns to John Sparks Ltd, listing: stock number of goods, date of return, name of client account, brief description of goods returned, page number for client account in Sales ledger , date of original invoice, invoice price (£-s-d), and running total of returned goods (£-s-d).
