scb_admin_history |
Miss Trott and Miss Campbell rented buildings to open Beni-Israel School, and by 1901 they had 175 pupils. This was the only work done by any Society at that time amongst members of the Jewish community in Bombay. Despite calls to expand the school, it had to close in 1923 owing to the poor condition of buildings and the heavy loss on exchange, making rebuilding prohibitive.
