Admin history: Alexander Chisholm was a missionary with the London Missionary Society in the South Seas from 1842 to his death in 1862. He married Elizabeth Davies (born 23 Dec 1822, granddaughter of John Whitridge of Oswestry). Mr & Mrs Chisholm arrived in Tahiti in March 1843. His appointment having been changed to Samoa, they proceeded to that Group, arrived at Upolu in April 1843, and settled in June at Salailua, Savaii. Custodial history: The notes appear to have ben copied by Irene M. Fletcher, Librarian & Archivist for the London Missionary Society, in 1952. An introductory note by Irene Fletcher inside the volume reads "The document was intended for the family's interest, and was loaned to us by Mr R. G. Chisholm, son of George Oswald Chisholm, Mrs Chisholm's youngest son, and the only one born in England...".
