Admin history: Thomas Blossom was appointed to the London Missionary Society as an Artisan (carpenter) to Tahiti in 1821. He first settled at Pirae, and in 1823 at Roby's Place. In 1826 he removed to Griffin Town and took general superintendence of the external affairs of the South Sea Academy. On account of ill-health, he retired from the mission in 1844.
Custodial history: A note on first page reads "[copied March 1895 from the original MS Book lent me by his son...]". Additional notes suggest that the copy manuscript was made by W. Richardson, Hull, and a [photo]copy of this was made by Hull University Library in August 1963 from the manuscript at Hull Reference Library, Local History Department. This is noted as being part of a collection of Notes on Local History, deposited by A. E. Trout.
