scb_admin_history Born 1 Jun 1864 at Aberdeen; studied at Hackney College; appointed to Farafangana, SE Madagascar; ordained 15 Mar 1893; married Minnie Ellis Page, 30 Mar 1893; left England 26 May 1893; arrived at Manajara, 6 Jul, going on to Farafangana, where he settled; after the French conquest, the Farafangana Mission having been handed over to the Norwegian Mission, Mr and Mrs Jones returned to England, arriving 10 Jul 1898; appointed to Papua Mission, left England 28 Apr 1899, to proceed to Jokea, Papua; in 1915, they went to Australia for Deputation work; died 27 Jul 1928.
scb_custodial_history The papers were deposited with the London Missionary Society and form part of the special series of personal papers of individual LMS missionaries and officers.
scb_acquisition Deposited on permanent loan with the records of the London Missionary Society by the Congregational Council for World Mission (later Council for World Mission) in 1973.
