Groups include: missionaries with wives and children at dinner on veranda of mission house, including boy holding camera; [Henry Percy] Schlencker with groups of chiefs brought together for the first time; [Frederick William] Walker, [Albert] Pearse and [Harry Moore] Dauncey; large group of indigenous men in village with missionaries; men on shore with canoes at Dopima. People include: Ruatoka, Missionary in New Guinea 1873 to 1903 (born in Mangaia); portrait of Koku, the first indigenous female Christian in New Guinea; man who claims to have struck down [James] Chalmers. Events include: Proclamation of the Protectorate, 1884; farewell to Dr [William George] Lawes [1906]. Places or buildings include: Dopima Creek, the place where James Chalmers, Tamate, died. Also includes: grave of James Chalmers at Daru, grave of Mrs Chalmers, also a memorial to James Chalmers and Oliver Tomkins. Prints taken by/received from: William George Lawes et al.
