The journal extracts cover the period of Ince's departure from Malacca in July 1819 for Penang to Nov 1819. Comments on discributing tracts amongst the Chinese with Thomas Beighton, and also at Beighton's Malay School. Comments on his work among the Chinese population. Describes local festival in September and his disgust at the burning of paper idols. Refers to the birth of his daughter.Comments on attandances at the Malay and Chinese Schools. Refers to the cholera epidemic in Oct and Nov.
