Report reaches Kam of Christianity in Tahiti from passengers of a French ship reaching Amboina; desire of Arous [Kepulauan Aru] islanders for teachers and his ministry; received further news of the South Seas missionaries including death of king Pomare; use of a Moravian Bible translation into Chinese for conversion of Chinese; report from one of the missionary colleagues of the burning of idols on Ceram [Seram]; Kam had a short but severe illness; civil uprising in Eastern Celebes [Sulawesi]
