description includes letters from: Mrs E Keasberry, Singapore (20 Jan) - in consideration of the work and outlay of her late husband claims $1,000 for herself as his widow with family. Rev J A Bethune Cook, English Presbyterian Mission, Devonshire Road, Singapore (23 Jan) - encloses further correspondence; recommends that though neither William Young nor Mrs Keasberry have legal claims, payments should be made, his being $200-$250. A forced sale would probably alienate the prioperty from mission purposes and Malay congregation would not readily go to any other building bought with proceeds; suggests property be handed over to Foreign Missions Committee of English Presbyterian Church who could offer nothing beyond certain sums to Young and Keasberry. William Young, Singapore (5 June) - taking steps to close his connection with the LMS's property; there was no dwelling house when he took voer the pastorate; improvements he effected estimated worth $400 a year; trust deeds 'handed to Bethune Cook by lawyers'. Rev J A Bethune Cook, English Presbyterian Mission, Devonshire Road, Singapore (29 Sept) - William Young has left for Jersey, his claim for $300 having been paid by a Mr Davidson of Rody & Davidson who are holding the deeds as security; hopes soon to hear the Mission Chapel has been transferred to the English presbyterian Mission by the LMS; opening of school for Chinese boys.
