NOTE: for letters written by John Smith for the latter part of 1823 (and early 1824) regarding the Demerara Rebellion, his implication in the uprising and subsequent imprisonment, no originals have been found in the archive, but published copies appear in the Supplement to the Second Volume of the Quaretrly Chronicle of the Transactions of the London Missionary Society, pages 509-526. A copy of this Supplement contaning the letters is also held in West Indies Odds, Box 4 (John Smith Case Papers).
