Summary: |
Incoming correspondence from missionaries in Holland to the London Missionary Society headquarters.
The formation of the Netherlands Missionary Society followed soon after the LMS. Letters reflect the collaboration between the LMS and the Netherlands society, which eased the evangelisation of territories where control alternated between Britain and the Netherlands (Guiana [Guyana], South-East Asia and South Africa). The Secretary, Bernard Ledeboer, was a regular correspondent. They provided the early missionaries John Kicherer and Dr John Vanderkemp and many others, whose letters are included in the series. Their training course completed the preparation for missionaries who came on from seminary in Berlin. Some letters from G S Stracke, Hatshausen (East Friesland), have been placed in the Holland folders. |
