J A Trutter - emancipation of Dorenda (Malabar, enslaved) - this letter is a formal decision from the Governor of the Cape of Good Hope in response to a request or application from Johannes van der Kemp for the enslaved (woman) Dorenda van Bengalen to be freed from her slave bondage or service. The request is granted but with a fee (a caution fee or bail to satisfy the legal requirements) to be paid to the Diaconie arm of the Reformed Church in the city of the Cape to the amount of 50 rijksdaalders.
