description Unwillingness to accept Mr Ashton as a companion for his travels on the basis of Ashton's reluctance to remove from Kuruman; asks Tidman to prevail upon him to take up a position with the Bamangwato [baNgwato], Bangwaketse [baNgwaketse] or Bakwains [baKwena]; difficulty of parting with his family and financial affairs; William Oswell's kindness; prevalence of the African fever makes him ponder over the subject of death but is trusting to God; expresses gratitude over assurances that the Society will take care of his family in England; Mrs Livingstone has much improved in health, but asks Tidman to procure the advice of Dr Bennett or some other eminent medical man in reference to the return of her paralysis which affetcts the right side of her face.
