Also includes letter from Robert Moffat to Mrs Read, Oct 1842; letter from Robert Moffat to Mrs Rawson, Jul 1872; manuscript account given by an enslaved person in South Africa in 1818, transcribed by Barnabas Shaw, Dec 1828 - the account details their capture as a child and subsequent enslavement - bears a red wax seal which reads 'Pity Poor Africa'. |
