Islands which he visited included Olsenga [Olosega], Fakaofo and Atafu in the Tokelau group, Nukulaelae, Fanufuti, Vaitupu, Nukufetau, Nui, Nuitao, Nanomea [Nnumea] and Nanomanga [Nanumanga] in the Ellice group [Tuvalu], and Arorae, Nukunau, Peru [Beru], Onotoa and Tamana in the Gilbert group [Kiribati]. At each station he received reports from the native teachers and visited the churches and schools. The statistics for the islands are compiled into a table at the end of the journal. |
