Summary: Journal of William Harbutt and George Drummond, May - August 1857, describing their voyage to the New Hebrides [Vanuatu] the Loyalty Islands [New Caledonia], Britania Island and Niue to visit the native teachers, and observe the progress of the missions. They were accompanied by Mr G N Gordon and his wife - new missionaries from the United Presbyterian Church of Nova Scotia to the New Hebrides. They first visited the island of Aneiteum [Anatom] and the stations of Mr Geddie and Mr Inglis, noting their aquisition of the ship John Knox. Also stopped at Fotuna, Tanna, Erromanga [Erromango], Fate [Efate], Mare (or Neg, Lifu, Uea (Britania Island)[Ouvea] and Niue (Savage Island) before returning to Samoa.
