Summary: Journal of John Davies, July 1825 - November 1826, describing his journeys to Rapa [Rapa Iti, Marotiri Islands, French Polynesia], Raivavae and Tapuai [Tubuai], (Tubuai Islands or Austral Islands)[belonging to French Polynesia], also the sending of Tahitian Christian teachers to one of the islands of Fiji. There are detailed descriptions of Rapa and Raivavae, their native peoples and language. He also mentions reports of and investigation of disturbances between whites and 'natives' on these islands. Returning to Tahiti, he discovered his wife had died in his absence. The journal has been heavily edited for publication in LMS Quarterly, Vol 3. pp 323-332, 353-359, 360-361.
