Custodial history: The collection of oil portraits of missionaries and former directors of the London Missionary Society originally formed part of the LMS Museum collection, and many were on display in the former LMS headquarters at various periods in their history. Although some portraits were subsequently given to museums around the world, including the Moffat Museum, Kuruman, South Africa, many remained together in the custody of the Council for World Mission until 2013-2014, when the collection was split and paintings donated to the National Maritime Museum, ...
