Objects prictured include a figure of Tarianui ('Great Ears'), with the museum label indicating that this was a 'God of fishing, carried on the prow of fishing canoe' [see Ellis, 'Polynesian Researchers', Fig. 7]; a standing male figure [Hawaiian Islands], and a standing casket figure from the Austral Islands, Rurutu, referred to by the missionary John Williams as 'Aa, the national god of Rurutu' [this figure and other artefacts were presented by Rurutuans in Aug 1821 to Rev John Williams at Ra'iatea, Society Islands].
