Summary: Black and white photographs and letters giving information about the old printing press used at the London Missionary Society Kuruman Mission Station by Robert Moffat and William Ashton (later held in the Kimberley Public Library, South Africa). Two of the letters are from the Librarian of Kimberley Public Library, 17 March 1934, and 3 March 1964, with an additional note from Jim [Hardyman], 9 March 1964. A technical description of the press compiled by S. C. Kruger, Manager, Printing Department, Diamond Fields Advertiser, is attached to the letter of 3 March 1964.

Admin history: The printing press is said to have been presented to Robert Moffat by Rev John Phillips and was taken by Moffat to Kuruman in 1831, but was used by Moffat elsewhere before 1830. It was located in 1914 in an outhouse at the Kuruman mission station and was taken to Kimberley in 1916. It was constructed from hand-wrought iron parts
