scb_admin_history William Roby (1766-1830) served as a Protestant minister in Wigan and Manchester at the Independent Congregational Church in Canon Street, and later in Grosvenor Street. He was one of the founders of the London Missionary Society. A short biography of William Roby can be found in 'The Fathers and Founders of the London Missionary Society', by Rev John Eyre.
