From 1836 to the end of 1894[?], the Colonial Missionary Society was a Committee of the Congregational Union of England and Wales – hence the minutes up to that date are actually Committee minutes and not Board Minutes. The minute books (Board and Committees) were brought from Memorial Hall in July 1966.

Series of minutes from the Committee, later Board, of the Colonial Missionary Society, including draft minutes, and reports from sub-committees. No minutes for the period May 1883-Jan 1899 exist, they were found to be missing in the 1950s. Includes the first minutes of the Society with manuscript notes on its origins, minutes for 1956, when the Society changed its name to the Commonwealth Missionary Society, and from 1966-67 relating to the merger with the London Missionary Society. Also includes agenda books for the Chairman and Secretary, 19501-966.
