scb_admin_history The Headquarters of the Algiers Mission Band were in Algiers [Dar Naama, El Biar], presided over by the Executive Committee. There was however, from 1925 a Home Advisory Council, initially called the English Council, which overlapped with, and was then succeeded by, the Algiers Mission Band Association Board of Directors, following the setting up of the Algiers Mission Band Association Ltd in 1959. The Home Advisory Council met fairly regularly and as needs arose. One or two representatives of the Home Council also served on the Executive Committee. After the Second World War the Home Council took on more responsibility for things like pension provision, literature publication and liaison with the North Africa Mission and other agencies. In 1959, the Algiers Mission Band Association Ltd was formed and 92, Gordon Rd, Ealing, was purchased, named 'Algiers House'. It served both as the base for the Home Office, and the then Secretary-Treasurer, Miss D.B.Edge, and for missionaries on home leave. However, it proved to be an expensive and time-consuming investment and was sold in 1965 to the Bible and Churchmen's Missionary Society. The first Chairmen of the Home Advisory Council were Rev Francis Brading of Croydon and the Rev Cecil Collinson. Later chairman were Mr E. Oliver, and then Mr Horace Berry, who became the Chairman of the AMB Association Ltd.
