500 |a "Ubaliyambuha" is the past participle of "to translate". "Julge" + genitive -i means "of old" (note the spelling: julgei). "Shu" is a transliteration of Chin. shu "writings". "Fiyelen" means "sections"/"parts"/"chapters". And then the full title continues: -i (genitival suffix, hence "of" / "pertaining to" the sections; plus "Shutoqin" (in one of the spelling conventions – "preface", but also "sequel"). The Chinese title is 滿文翻譯古文序 (different ideograph for "fan" 翻). -- Dr. Lars. Laamann, SOAS, University of London
