Admin history: William Bennett was born in Seaton, Cornwall, on 20 February 1864. A Bible Christian, he became a lay preacher in 1882 and in 1886 undertook ministerial training at Shebbear College. After a year spent in Kilkhampton, Cornwall, he was sent as a missionary to Brisbane, Australia, departing aboard the 'Ormuz' on 29 September 1888. He remained in Brisbane for the next 7 years, and from 1891 specifically in the Enoggera circuit (which included Kelvin Grove).
