Admin history: Samuel Withers Green was born on 12 January 1894, at Finchley, Middlesex. He studied at King's College, London, and Mansfield College, Oxford. He had served during the First World War and was seriously wounded. He married Ruth Victoria Fry on 24 September 1921. He was ordained at Mansfield College. He was appointed to the Griffith College [Griffith John School], Hankow, as a missionary with the London Missionary Society, and sailed 19th August 1922.
