Philip A. Wade worked as the honorary treasurer of the Christian Concern for Southern Africa (CCSA) political pressure group from 1983 until the non-governmental organisation's dissolution in 1994. Wade also served on the Executive Committee of the organisation during this period.
CCSA was founded in 1972 as an interdenominational Christian body concerned with raising awareness of the political situation in apartheid South Africa and to co-ordinate the response of British Churches. CCSA had links with all major British Christian churches, relying predominantly on them for financial support although charitable organisations also gave assistance. The activities of the CCSA ceased in 1994 when the political situation in South Africa was believed to be improving significantly. |
