Jean Findlay Kennedy Holtham was the daughter of Gavin Smith, London Missionary Society missionary to Niue in the South Seas and South Africa. He was born in 1878 at Balquhain, Inverurie. He studied at Aberdeen University and Yorkshire United College, Bradford. He was ordained on 23 June 1909 at Yorkshire United College. He married Jane Elizabeth McCandlish on 8 July 1909. He was appointed to Niue and sailed on 23 July 1909. In 1915, he transferred to Taung, British Bechuanaland, South Africa. In 1920 he was appointed Theological Tutor at Tiger Kloof Native Institution. He visited England on sick-leave, 20 June 1914-23 October 1915; 27 February 1922-19 January 1923. |
